Tiny Energies
No one writes the poems of science;
the tiny energies that spin the world
of straw and moments go unnamed
among the vain sales calls of the cancerous self—
the poet is the bloody vivisectionist,
his tools blunted on his own numb belly—
yet science writes the poems of no one
except perhaps the evolutionary eulogies and laments
that lie behind the war
the poet wages.
