Rebuttal
Tell your small stories elsewhere—
too much concrete,
facile sentiment,
weighs down a poem with mobster shoes,
giving it the sound of gossip,
tedious verisimilitude,
rather than gracile feet
in a sensory dance.
Trivial thoughts are worse
than abstract verse.
