On Debts
If debts are imaginary,
then what of profits?
From which page is gain torn?
What would it profit a man
to lose his soul?
I mean, has anyone done the math?
Every prophet has an agenda
proposed in imagination's committee.
Every child is born
with the superpower of veto—
don't tell him! don't let her know!
If it is exercised it will grow.
If debts are real,
then bonds are chains,
not investments,
not arteries, not veins,
but if they are not,
then why pretend?
Why not borrow
what others lend?
