Write
write anything—
someone will get it:
secrets, mysteries, lies,
regrets, trivial details, scandal—
someone beat you there,
probably someone you know
and certainly many someones you don't
write a poem
to stick in his eyes,
to put in her mouth,
to hide on their shelves
for them to forget
a poem to make them dream
of everything they will lose
when they open their eyes
and again see consensus
instead of poetry
no more wilderness,
only fields plowed and planted
and plowed again,
yielding mirror harvests
under cloudless and birdless skies
