What I Learned

Deceived by your occult heart,
I learned nothing
but that I was susceptible to deception.
Is that what you learned too?
Or did you learn that you are one
who could do such a thing
to the only one who loved you?
I have never denied a love.
I have never betrayed a love.
But I have loved unwisely.
What I might have suffered,
had you not taught me not to love!
(What I have suffered
because you did...)
