Verities

What if dreams are a remnant
of prehistoric consciousness?

My best dream is to remind some-
one of a few essential verities,
even if only myself.

Do not, dare not,
quibble with dream!

Bad poets embrace the convenient
rather than the true.

“What is truth?”
“What is truth?”
What, indeed?

We all publish our preference.
The casual conceals the vital.

Wildness is no longer permitted
even in wilderness.

All poems are written and copyrighted by Michael C. Rush.
