Unnecessary Pieties

Sailing into shaded arbor
arduously seeking rest
when it's time to unduress,
place your trust in coincidence
and other aspects of the world
that do not love you.  Sometimes
the hopeless thing is the necessary thing.

Avoid the hyperbolic cascades of the war
for peace and intermittent permanence.
Follow the exquisite inquisition of the faithless
exposing unnecessary pieties and, eventually,
the instinct to correct the world, here
on the brink of momentous discovery,
in the foyer of monumental achievement.
