Unlove
From whom this madness
that to love one
is to unlove all the rest?
Or can you really believe
that there is only one
in all the world?
And if more than one,
mustn't there be many
who merit cherishing,
a tentative tenderness,
spontaneous animal celebration,
to counter venomous indifference?
Not one, you say,
but one-at-a-time.
Well, uncage your love, miser!
The world has too much need of it
and it is too wild and strong
to squander on one greedy heart.
