To Say It

You want me to show you things, and I will,
but there is so much I have to tell you first.

That there are two ways of saying anything
is but one of the many ways of saying anything.

The unusual is memorable, the normal,
not; if you must think, seek a stranger thought.

The forces of the beautiful vs.
the forces of the unusual vs.
the forces of the miserable
converging into glossolalia.

Things seen
slowly
overwhelm with detail, revealing
the superficiality of depth-obsession.

There's only so much you can say
with words you've let someone else define.

I'm saying it.
I'm saying it.

We will accept from novelty much that, familiar, repels us,
assimilations cognitive, digestive, social, strategic.

If we are not asking questions,
we are nothing.

?

So much of the searching is to reassure ourselves
that there is still more than we can ever find.

So often we feel that exaggeration reveals more of what's real.

If you can't say it,
leave it for another mouth, another mind:
there's enough truth to go around.
And more than enough humbug.

I only know one thing,
but I seem to know a lot of ways to say it.
