Time Again
Is it time again, already,
to reestablish our mutual antipathy?
Why, at the beginning of each era of social change,
do the prudes and killjoys rise again ascendant to cluck and hiss
and tie our wrists until we again decide it is worth the struggle to be free?

The hand no longer hidden,
pushing us into the invisible sieve
that will assign us our fate,
or resign us to it.

Culture is always opt-in.  You are not obligated
to incorporate any aspect of culture into your life
based merely on when/where you are born or live.
Or to reject one.

I zigged when I should have zagged
so many times.
But what's the point in trying
to lose oneself into new territory
when the exit's always in sight?

Is it, in fact, the case that most people are weak and dumb,
or is it, rather, that most people only present as weak and dumb
due to various sociological and psychological factors?

Let us celebrate the birth of experience
as the ignorant celebrate innocence.

The society that takes more from you than it gives you
is a society that must be overturned at all costs.
