This Flag

Equilibrium is the enemy of evolution.
And vice versa.

I have stood in the center of this battlefield,
waving a flag, and singing.

The cells in my body agreed
to a temporary ceasefire,
but they grow restless
to return to the fray.

I grow weary of holding this flag,
and singing only seems to summon the Furies.

The sky is blue, the sky is gray.
I am standing, I am lying
tangled and splayed upon the ground.
Just one more song before the war resumes...
