This Dream

I have never let go of a dream,
and I shall not release this one.
It will be wrenched from my dead hand.
When it is taken, it will be
because I was not here to hold it.
That is all I can do.  But I shall do it.
This dream, without me, is nothing.
I have dreamed this dream into my hand.
I have also dreamed my hand.
But how did I come to dream
the dream would end?
I shall not relinquish it.
If I could dream my dream,
I would dream it forever.
