There Isn't Time



First we want to survive,
then we want to thrive.
Eventually we want free
of the terrible hunger of desire.
But there isn't time for that.
There isn't time
for much of anything,
although we pretend that there is.
We try to pretend that there is.
We want to pretend that there is.
We want the freedom to pretend
in a world that says
Here it is:  accept it
or change it.
