The Wrong Smile
...using your bluntest tools to make vents, incisions,
incursions into love's dominion, careful, contested carvings
aiding larvae, looking to leave, giving the wrong smile,
the wrong smile, tired, spent, made, not spontaneous,
calculated, measured, over decisions that led you to grieve,
to serve opinion, then you went, into the all-cancelling
night, dark as no dreams, silent as no songs, unreal, untrue,
you, counterfeit, small, concealing connection, to believe
in extraneous rules, bindings, boundaries around feeling,
cold as coercion, while smiling me away, saying go,
you must go, trust me and accept what is empty, bent,
with broken edges, your life, your new life, sharp,
sick, your new mind, fearful, isolate, unable to conceive
unanticipated collisions yet to come...
