The World 6

The world says:  WORLD.
We hear:  YOU.

It gets harder and harder to argue with those who say
that the world is better before you know too much of it.

After every difficult step I made toward it,
the world pulled further away.

The world behind the world is thin
and unsatisfying—who can I blame?

Why did we not make the world
something we could love and be proud of?

Time spent calculating how much I harmed the world
and how much I passed through it unnoticed.

If I insist the world is as I want it to be,
it won't be, but maybe I will.
