The Solution, Concealed
If I had it, it was taken.
I know snow now.
The disturbing discipline of repetition.
Everything there is a word for matters, or has mattered.
And although I am difficult in a few ways
I am easy in so many others.
No one knows where I am.
But everyone knows where I'm going.
Everything discovered
is an opportunity for misery
when lost.
The poem
of the crematorium.
Grief is a systemic rejection of the intolerable.
Wishful thinking isn't thinking.
Contained within the situation,
the solution, concealed.
Subtract the arbitrary, and what remains?
Don't be sorry, just be smart.
If I am to be denied it
then I shall forswear it—
I, I, I shall decide
the scope of my deprivations.
