The Silence Between
When you are born
history imprisons you inside god
(or gods).
Breaking free means breaking out,
means breaking.
God is something and god is nothing,
so you must break something and break nothing.
Many don't understand
(or are misinformed)
and try to break history.
Ha! That never works.
How could it work?
You are becoming history with every exhalation.
You have heard this before, remember?
I have said this before, remember?
What do you mean, this is not enough?
What do you mean, it remains unclear?
Is it not enough to begin your breaking?
Is it not enough to begin to make amends
for the circumstance of your birth?
There is too much to say,
so I have said too much.
Break my words—all words—apart
and listen for the silence between them.
