The Net Sum of the Change to Come
The biggest misconception of childhood
is that the net sum of the changes to come
will be positive.

Yesterday's prophecies
have impacted me
no more than a caveman's sneeze.

Choose, and be stuck with your choice forever,
or choose to choose and keep choosing,
making the best choice you can every time
again and again?

If we were held accountable each night
for our mistakes of the day,
who would wake?

What if cause-and-effect is the exception
that proves the Rule of Chance?

Our concept that will change the most
over the next hundred years
will be that of the "artificial."

Free will is incompatible with
divine omniscience or omnipotence.
Therefore one or the other
does not exist.
(It is also quite possible
that neither exists.)

How we would yell at the gods
if we knew they could hear us!
