The Final Testament

The admiration of reason,
the indulgence in sensation:
this is the equation.

Remembrance without longing or regret.
Anticipation without dread.

I am so me
it's hard to see anything else.

Let me live until I want for nothing,
then let me become until I have been everything.

Tell me something that you know that I don't know.
That you know that I don't know.
Tell me that you know that I don't know.

What is gain when we lose from gaining
and what is loss when we gain from losing?

I would rather see than be seen,
know than be known.

Which does not imply a lack
of desire to be seen, known.

Humans are not human without opinion.
But opinions must be confined to matters of opinion,
in my opinion.

It is better to be resilient than stable,
adaptive than secure.

The question is whether we drown
of consciousness or in consciousness.

I didn't do so well
with the real thing.

I cast and cast and conjured nothing.
I embrace this nothing,
but I do not admire it.
