The Authority

If you send me somewhere
where it never stops
raining, where it's gray
and the light plays funny
and the streams of drops
hit first the leaves on trees
and then leaves on the ground,
that will suit me fine.

I love the sound and smell,
and the occasional ray of light
that makes it through
dazzles with the authority
of a revelation.
