Talisman

What ways we find
to convince ourselves
and others that we matter!

At most levels of scale
the truth is, we don't.

But across a narrow,
precious spectrum,
we do.

People don't love talismans
for their efficacy.

Participation
promotes delusions
of belonging.

Why aren't we trained
to react heroically,

to measure
the resistance of the world
to intent and effort?

Replace dogma with dogma,
and what have you done?
