Sunrise

I am not yet good at this,
made ill by others' hunger

the intellectualization of arousal
as frustration follows expectation

like Freud promoting his version of original sin,
the illusion of the ideal, provocative, useful

suspicious, superficial, associative
feelings retreat from contact

presence, captured, certainty insensate
nervously preparing early departure

even if no one made love all night
the sun would rise

what would you call
love asymptomatic?
