Statement To Other Poets

I care about abstraction.
So if I err, if I fail to focus
sufficiently upon the obsessions
of my body in the moment,
if I don't bewail in chorus
its current coordinate on
your favorite arbitrary grid
of discontent—then just
turn away, relent, let me rant
my cant without resorting to your
shackles of crumbling concrete—
my outward gaze won't cast
a haze on your favorite mirror.
