Snow

Pierre loves Natasha & Napoleon invades Russia—
I don't care I don't care I don't care.
I want no piece of their war.
Or their love.

Tell me instead of the snow that sank in infinite flakes,
each following its own plan down from a far sky onto a
continent of bones, white over white, soon stained red.
Same old snow.  Brand new snow.

I've no time for your naive Napoleons & Natashas, your
pathetic Pierres, for your fractal narratives endlessly
multiplying to fill the world with self-indulgent complication.
Only the snow, white & forever & always.

I don't care I don't care I don't care.
Take me—& leave me—there.
