Self-Assessment

Poems are like people:
the finite in infinite combination.

Patterns of patterns
lost in patterns,
we love truth
and other nonsense.

Pedigree is an illusion:
each of us is a new roll
of the same die,
beholden to all,
beholden to none.

We need to delve deeper
into our variability,
adulterate the purity
to investigate complexity.

I don't know what I need to know.
Can I learn fast enough not to fail?

Which is worse,
to be trivial or irrelevant?
