Saving the World
Go out,
live,
add your tale to the library of the illiterates.
Hero lite,
standing up for those who won't stand up for themselves
rather than those who can't.
The credible threats of the craven
hedging the bets of compassion
with a lascivious civility, with elicited criticism.
Under the rosy moon of dawn
disarm some bombs,
militants, mutants,
media-steeped mania-junkies,
coup-contrecoup
along the thin line
that marks the massive chasm
between.
At what level do we not perform?
We're marauders tamed to consumers.
Even simple things are extravagant.
Items of comparable quality may not be equivalent.
The unique is glorious but, ultimately, insignificant.
Only the reproducible can really matter.
Which currency buys happiness?
Chance, justice, or unhappiness?
