Restraint
Of all the places you could have stood,
you chose the one that would darken me with shade?
The problem is, I didn't take from you
everything that I wanted.
I thought there was kindness in restraint.
But they are repelled by hesitation,
like it better when you are direct and don't relent.
You drifted away because I did not pin you
like a butterfly to the wall—
well, so be it!
That isn't what I needed at all.
