Prayer of the Aware
If you hear me,
bless my use of you
and understand my need
to justify my prejudices and
to find forgiveness for my self-chosen sins
and healing of my self-administered wounds.
Terrorized by experience, I live in fear,
but I cower even more before the unknown
and before the thought of relinquishing everything
than I tremble under the myriad burdens of living.
When observations and feelings don't align,
imagination is the only guide.
I know not what I am,
nor what others are.
Because I am alone, I speak to you.
Because you are alone, you hear me.
