Postmortem Ritual

Empty onto my grave, gravely,
a quart jar of unbroken pecan halves
(eat one); then place beside them
a blank sheet of paper, folded
in half as many times as you can,
and an ice cube for each decade
I saw. Close your eyes.
Take a deep breath.
Taste the air.
Then rise and go,
and think of me no more.
