Poem in Three Acts
Act I
Ignite an unfamiliar beacon
of deceptive simplicity
and deceive me
with your vivid reality.
Act II
Say what you will (you will)
but you don't recruit suicide bombers
from the humanitarian ranks,
and if you do (you do)
you've a better-than-even chance
of being disappointed,
you misanthrope (you).
Act III
I knew a man
twice struck by lightning,
from which I deduce
that a man is not a place.
