On Grief 2

Grief is an indulgence in self.
We can not-grieve.
Others are not-grieving in this moment.
We need only become them,
or, at least, become like them,
but we don't, we won't, we want
to keep what we have felt, what
we have felt we had, to remember
not only how things were but how
we felt about them while they were.
We want what we lost—this is grief—
and we want what we feel about
the loss more than we want free
of the pain it leaves.
