On Culture

We have made culture bigger,
big enough to include both the better
and the stranger.
It's too big now for us to own it.
We sample from it here and there,
each of us getting a unique accumulation.
No longer is it possible to know
what it is to be human;
but we are learning more, perhaps,
than those who came before
what it is to be a human.
From all culture, of all time and every place,
every individual shall curate
their own constituents.
