Nursery Rhyme III
There was a man
who had a wife,
though they were never married,
and while other couples ran around,
they lingered and they tarried.
When the sun
came up each day,
they would stay abed,
and when others found them sleeping,
they often thought they might be dead!
They slept through every breakfast
and they slept right on past lunch,
and if no one got them up
at dinner time
then they'd forget to sup.
They often snored together
(as if singing a-ca-pillow)
while they dreamed their pretty dreams—
and they're probably dreaming even now,
as crazy as it seems.
There was a woman
had a husband,
though they never married,
and while other couples ran around,
they lingered and they tarried.
