We have forgotten Nature's story,
and we have forgotten that
Nature's story IS a story,
one story, like our stories,
only older, more widely known,
more enduring.

We want to believe in
the supremacy of Nature's story
so that we can believe
that our tentative chapters,
too, can matter.
