Look But Don't Touch 2

Everything was put before me,
so that I was sure to see it.
I saw it.

Everything was denied me,
as though the universe were a taunt.

Subtract what I am
from what I might have been—
that is the debt I am owed.

Though there is no record of it,
though I never collect it,
still I assert it.

Everything was kept apart,
just out of reach,
and I resent it.
