If You Can't Even
I mean, if you can’t even relax and enjoy it,
enjoy what you have and don’t deserve,
received without asking or seeking
or even knowing to ask for or to seek,
if you can’t even be grateful and occasionally content,
if you can’t manage even that,
then welcome to my world, full of people
uncomfortable with being people and with the world
that has given, and continues to give,
the unasked for, the unsought,
the beautiful moments and glorious rewards
that invent desire and teach displeasure.
