History
We react now to history appropriated for drama,
not to history—or are we just more aware
of our doing what others always did?
Is there more guilt in ignorance or contrition,
objectively speaking?
The programming more meaningful than the past,
nothing is any longer what it was,
so why not remake it with the images
of our own desires?
No reason at all, if a lie will satisfy.
And it often does.
