Haunted

Ghosts haunt only bodies,
and only while they live.
Why murder your ghosts?
You are the haunted house
that children fear.
You are the haunted house
where things have happened.
You contain screams and moans,
which must be held somewhere
where they only occasionally get loose.

Without your ghosts
you become translucent
and hard to see.
The most important thing
is the gut-deep chill
as they enter you
to roam your halls
for your forever.
