Give Me

Speech insists
that communication be constrained and confined,
they say.

Give me freedom of being,
of being multiple,
of extending my understanding across borders,
over barriers,
and of being, equally, intruded upon,
caught and released,
momentarily the not-me and the never-me
before again reducing
to the perfect me, newly increased,
and newly bereft.

Give me what I would take if I knew of it, and could.
