Everything Is Danger

To be safe you must die.
To live, you must put yourself at risk
of living.  Shock!  Terror!  Disappointment!
Anxiety!  Regret!  Change!
The world, life in the world,
is not what was promised.
But you are the one
who made that promise
to yourself.
You were so young,
knew so little of the world, of life.
You felt safe, and conflated life with security.
But now you know better.
Everything is danger.
