Bible Study
There is no era
in which I would have accepted
the platitudes of the church.

Religion is rumors and gossip
based on the fantasies
of the long dead.

Nothing foreign, nothing alien, could be
more strange to me than the Bible, save perhaps
the Bible-ignorant Bible-embracers.

Who could worship a god
as small as the God of the Bible?
Only the infinitesimal.

The Christians, cross-contaminated,
are waiting to see
what they are waiting for.

I have no need of any god,
though I could no doubt put one
to good use were it to present itself.

"Step into the light" is a mistranslation.
In the original it was, or should have been,
"step into the joy."

Ah,
Christianity got everything wrong.
And look how people flocked to it.

"Show me what is not if it is not in me"
is all the religion that I need.
