Beyond 2

I would have loved you unto death, into hell,
beyond, through the endless losses of eternity.
But I couldn't love my way past your "No."
Possibility collapsed, and I had to go.
So I went, and everything that has happened since
has been a dream, and who can suffer
very much from a dream?
Let chaos contend with inertia,
let entropy color time with tints of madness—
what is it to me?
I am a thing that has changed
from what it was to what it is,
and I don't know what it was
and I don't know what it is.
