Bankrupt
I trust more what I speak in doubt
than what I speak with certainty.
Even what is so is only provisionally so.
Let us list clearly the alternatives
so we can discuss the choice like rational adults.
I am unpersuaded by simplification.
I need convincing.
Sometimes, so concerned with questions and answers,
I wonder if I am overlooking other validities entirely.
The dark doesn't impose revelation on anyone.
Importance is not an absolute,
it needs a timestamp.
What is needed is adequate compensation.
for the recession of the desired.
I reject social economics
(and am consequently bankrupt).
We have so little to do with the past,
and even less to do with the future.
Our song is a death song.
The early verses are best.
I think I deserved a world that loved me
as much as I loved it.
Why am I still surprised
every time I find out
that what I thought was mine
belonged to everybody?
Beard white, head bald,
still I am made of youth.
Indulgent? Why not?
I never said no.
But I had concerns.
I will wait until almost the end
to write my origin story.
A world had to die
to make me, too.
