At Least

Everything I saw was a lie.
I loved some of the lie.
What if we tried to love everything
anyone loved?
What if we tried and failed?
What if trying and failing
was not failing?
That's a lie.
Love is something that happens to you,
not something you do,
not something you try to do.
If I didn't see it, could it have been true?
Is love true, or only real?
Is it at least as real as the lie?
