Associations

Live, live until everything has an association.
Associations.  Until every new thing
is immediately trussed with so many old
things that it can't breathe and dies.

When you realize that their minds
are atrophied gnarls of not very much,
your heart becomes a glacier,
half-melted ice rising
from your idiosyncratic throat.

Smoored by your obnubilated heart
I float,
drowned in qualia, idiomorphic metaphors,
buffeted by the exhortations of fools,
the exultation of the self-destructive.
