As Pure A Heart
I think I must have exceptional moral talents. I can imagine doing bad things, for one reason or another, doing them well or badly, but not being bad. I could do every excrementitious thing a Genghis Khan, a Vlad the Impaler, a Dick Cheney did but do it just differently enough (though exactly the same) to disculpate myself. I am incapable of evil even in the specific duration of an evil act. I can sell myself a secular indulgence even for buying indulgences. How many others, I wonder, trample toward extinction with as pure a heart, as exhaustive an empathy, as I?
