If someone said, after, look,
this was it, that was what
you were there for,
would we care?
Would we have moved beyond caring?
Could they make us care again?
If they said, forget all that other stuff,
this was the purpose, that was the point,
would we look at them with pity,
would we rise in rebellion,
remembering all the rest, the peripheral,
the inessential, the unnecessary
complexity that comprised almost the entirety
of the experience?
