A Word Like That
You can't use a word like ressentiment in a poem,
no one said to me one day while I was minding my own business.
You're not man enough. You don't have enough degrees.
You haven't paid your dues. Who do you think you are?
What are you trying to prove? You'll never get away with it.
Why do you always set out to alienate everybody?
What'd they ever do to you? Don't do it. Don't you do it!
Nobody ranted, and swore, and raged.
And I chuckled, nodded, and put pen to page.
