A True Self

Knowing what someone desires
is a distraction from their true self.
The idea that they have a true self
is a distortion.  Knowing is
an overly-generous characterization
of what we do when we do what we do.
What someone desired, what they will desire.
What they don't and won't.  If
you want to identify what is bad for you,
ask yourself what you love.
By all means, love!  Love,
love and love.  But don't love
as though you had a true self.
Don't love like that.
