A Kind of Poetry
Poetry is a kind of poetry.
When you are failing to slow the failing—that feeling.
Until you evaluate your level of responsibility
for the disenchantment. Sorry, the Disenchantment.
I confess that some of my verse is irresponsibly sourced—
okay, all of it. But I never took a shortcut when there was
a more compelling path from A to B (or to LMNOP).
What is the going rate for truth (I almost wrote truce) equivalence?
I can't guarantee perfection and an utter lack of error,
but I do think you'll be less wrong if you assume intent
in the uncommon rather than carelessness.
Can you resist the temptation to tell them what to think?
What to do? What not to?
What are you doing to my words?!
